About 2,400 bottles of imported liquors were emptied into Moisewers by local customs jail staff under Deputy Director John Callaghan. The liquor was destroyed to prevent bootleggers from stealing brands and selling them as real imports. destruction began Friday at 9 and ended after 5.
Testimony in recorder's court showed three seamen charged with disorderly conduct after a dispute with three Negro marine workers near Beauregard and Water streets. A brick was allegedly thrown. the three workers fled to safety. James West received a $15 fine while G. Banks and C. Banks were fined or ten days.
Williams of the American has received in Colorado recently visited by flood. Packages must be sent to the mayor of Pueblo or the Red Cross. The company held a meeting Friday with 160 percent attendance.
Munson Steamship Company announces a 10 to 26 percent freight rate cut for shipments from Mobile to Cuban ports effective June 15, applying to grain flour iron and steel and wearing apparel. The reduction follows a 20 percent cut on March 15 and also covers New Orleans shipments. W E Moyen freight agent for the Mobile & Ohio railroad said exporters across the Southern territory will be notified. Local shipping circles welcome the boost to Cuban trade centered in Mobile.
The 1920 census shows 28,354 Mobile residents aged 10 and over employed in gainful work, 46.7 percent of the city’s 60,777 residents. Of workers, 19,815 are men and 8,539 women. Major sectors include agriculture 14 percent, manufacturing 9,352 13.7 percent, transportation 3,872 13.7 percent, trade 3,670 12.9 percent, professional 1,418 4.7 percent, domestic 6,465 22.8 percent, and clerical 2,766 9.8 percent.
Judge Norbourne R Clarke rules in Arthur Lane case that a man may burn his own home if no insurance and no adjacent property risk. Lane, of Spring Hill, set kerosene on the front gallery and lit a match, then set clothing alight. the house burned. Lane was granted his freedom after testimony.
County Engineer M. Adams announced that the Mobile county board of revenue and road commissioners will open and operate the Gravel Pit at 11 Grendon Alabama. Bids were opened with Jett Brothers as the only bidders but the county will perform the work. Material will be sold to contractors at 35 cents per ton fob pit and the pit is expected to be open by July 10. Adams will also petition the State Public Service Commission to protest rates to Mobile.
Washington June 11 The marine strike has proved utterly ineffective in tying up American shipping. From May 1 to June 11 1 888 American steamers sailed while only 176 were detained due to the strike. Hoover reports more difficulty at the telecommunication sector.

A London Times dispatch from Berlin reports a general strike in Munich in response to the murder of Herr Gareis. It notes Berlin and Munich view the killing as political revenge for Gareis’s prominent role in the socialist campaign against the Hin wohnwebhr.
A 48 hour general strike was called in Munich beginning June 11 in a move that could disrupt transportation and public services across the city. Early reports indicate widespread participation by unions and workers.

British troops and Polish irregulars clashed near Malapane in Silesia. The British detachment was ambushed but fought free with minor casualties. Polish losses were not estimated as they fled after the British regained the initiative.
In Lexington New York on June 11 the jury in the J W Peacock murder trial was locked in for the night after four hours without a verdict. The case concerns the killing of Chief J E Taylor of Thomasville with two hours of final argument by Clyde Rhoey and defense attorney John J Parker.
W. B. Carroll Bedford county farmer charged with the murder of Dr. G. E. Horton in Shelbyville May 22 will have bond sought on a habeas corpus writ in Nashville. Carroll was arrested on the Shelbyville square and remanded to jail without bond after a preliminary hearing.

Roy Gardner the mail car bandit escaped from federal officers at Castle Rock after holding up the guards at gunpoint and taking their weapons and $200 while en route to McNeil Island. Gardner jumped from the car and a posse pursued him. this was his second escape. He had been moved from San Francisco to Sacramento to search for a mail sack with bonds near the city but failed to locate it.
The Navy secretary revoked Admiral William Sims leave to return to the United States amid a dispute with Secretary Daniels over Sims joining a British university project in England. Sims was ordered to report immediately and await further instructions as tensions with the administration remained unresolved.
Washington June 11 The foreign trade of the United States for May 1921 shows a trade surplus of 122 million dollars, with exports and imports totals given by the department of commerce. Gold shipments were reported at 58,209,918 dollars as part of the trade data.
New Orleans police found Sam Ban of Chicago and Wil York telephoning different race tracks to operators along the Gulf coast. They, and paraphernalia, were seized after a tip led to the third floor downtown building. The suspects were found in nightwear and were detained.
London dispatch reports a new meeting between Turkish nationalist leader Mustafa Kemal and Soviet representatives to organize military aid for Kemal's forces. The Central News Agency cites orders to send troops from Armenia and Angora and supply war material. Reports say Turkish sacks crossed the frontier and entered Trebizond harbor.
