Mobile outfielder Matt Donahue was shot at the Piedmont Hotel by Atlanta pitcher George Young. Managers and police dispute responsibility while investigations note a prior quarrel and a thigh fracture requiring about a month of recovery.
Thomas H. Brown, 21, is docketed at Mobile County Jail on larceny charges for stealing $334 from Edgar H. Pistole, secretary of the Firemen’s Benevolent Association. He also faces a prohibition violation after deputies found three gallons of whiskey on his person. Pistole identified the recovered money as part of the stolen funds. Detectives traced the case and arrested Brown, Pistole’s brother in law, later the same night. Brown had $143 when arrested.

She was taken to the city hospital with painful injuries to her legs and was not believed seriously hurt. Johnson surrendered to police and was docketed on a reckless driving charge and released on bond.
Abba Temple Nobles of the Mystic Shrine schedule a May Day ceremonial on May 6 with a 6:30 p.m. lunch and 7:30 p.m. ceremony at Mobile Relief hall. A May pole dance is planned for May 8. A May 4 business session will be held at the shrine home. Committees led by Christian and Southall oversee arrangements.
The city waterworks department warns that water use without a permit will be prosecuted. Contractor Dan Powell was arraigned in recorder's court for violating this law and fined five dollars or five days.
The coast guard patrol boat AB-19 sister to AB-20 from this port went to Hendersons drydocks for general repairs. AB-19 arrived from Pensacola and will stay about four years.

Omaha April 25 The Associated Press reports athletic director Kenneth L Whison of Drake University said after a long distance call with Quist he believed Paavo Nurmi and Ville Ritola innocent of expense demand allegations. Caldwell quoted Whison saying there were no doubts about their innocence and that no such demands were made.
Garry Herrmann president of the Cincinnati National League club and a group of Cincinnati fans named in federal warrants for illicit liquor possession must appear before a U S agent on June 3 to answer the warrants. The warrants, filed Friday, were delayed until after the baseball game. The fans lead the Royal Reds group that follows the club.
Solomon Parker a city waterworks employee was fined $25 or 25 days after G Cohn a tailor testified Parker drove a truck onto a sidewalk injuring him on St Joseph street.
