Alabama Educators Elect Frank L Grove President
Frank L Grove of Mobile was unanimously elected president of the Alabama Education Association for the coming year after a nominating committee prevented his name at noon. The three day convention at the Scottish Rite Cathedral ended with retiring president B M Shackleford stepping aside briefly and J M Burnett presiding. Shackleford stayed to debate a declaration accusing politicians of meddling in education, which was transformed into a resolution amid floor motions. new officers include Omer Carr second vice president Janet Simpson Louderhall third vice president G M Barnett Chambers. Dowling of Cullman resigned as secretary treasurer after five years, will stay on executive committee for three years. Grove pledged to carry out the task and congratulated Shackleford. Florence Hale of Maine spoke at the general session urging five principles: good cheer love of youth service kindness and future focus. Dowling announced the association has 8200 members, largest in its history, with greetings from NEA president Jesse H Newton. The program featured Y M C A Glee Club music and fourteen group meetings including English Teachers and Deans of Women.

Safe burglars loot Chero Cola plant and Texas Co vaults
Early morning robberies target the Chero Cola Company at Church and Royal streets and the Texas Company at Warren and Government streets. About 500 dollars in cash and 3600 dollars in bonds were stolen, with 400 to 600 dollars and more bonds taken from the vault after forcing it open.
