The Pensacola naval station asks the Mobile Chamber of Commerce for data on local fuel dealers. The chamber supplied dealer names and now faces a further request for detailed information on fuel types, loading methods, mining sources, and costs to inform naval vessels.
The supply officer urges the Mobile Chamber to provide information at once to enable naval authorities to use port facilities for refueling vessels. The request covers bituminous steam coal fuel oil gas and Diesel engine gas. Local dealers have been given the questions for immediate attention.
Will McDonald and Edgar McCullen were jailed on a charge of taking and using an automobile without owner consent. They were released on bond to appear in inferior criminal court. J W Burnell of Irvington Ala. says the boys took his car from the garage, used it several hours, and damaged the radiator before returning it.
The Mobile Chamber offers a new booklet titled A Southern Port Mobile, where Commerce and Pleasure Meet. It invites interested people from the West, North or East to supply names and street addresses to receive copies, though supplies are limited.
W. H. McCoy charged with operating a pool room without a license did not appear when his case was called in the inferior criminal court Saturday. Judge Chamberlain ordered McCoy rearrested and bond forfeited. Fred Lawrence, charged with gaming, was fined $1 or ten days.

Prohibition cases for Lester Lourment and Joe Talon continued to October 9. A raided soft drink stand at Franklin and Knox yielded whiskey gin and beer. Dock Fitzpatrick Sidney White and Isaac Mayhappy were docketed on prohibition charges with bonds posted by Dan Petty John H McEvoy and W R Smith.
Deputy sheriffs describe Friday raids at Ollie Werneth in Commerce near Es lava streets Valentine Nezich at Madison and Royal streets and Joseph Brooks at Palmetto and Royal streets yielding small beer and whiskey finds. Friday night liquor found at Pat O Brien’s soft drink stand on Davis avenue near Three Mile creek and at George Hermann’s on Davis near Fisher's alley. Louis Brown jailed on prohibition charge then released on bond. Judge Chamberlain orders destruction of 100 liquor lots seized by Sheriff Holcombe next Monday.
A weather bureau bulletin states a disturbance east of the Bahamas has re curbed and is moving northeast toward Bermuda, indicating a revised track from prior forecasts.
Congressman Dent reports that Mobile Chamber of Commerce endorsed Montgomery for the farm loan bank. Mobile later notified Alabama representatives that Mobile had withdrawn from the race and pledged support to Montgomery.
Buddie Reese, a Black man, was held to the city court under a 500 dollar bond by Recorder D. H. Edington after being charged with grand larceny for allegedly stealing several cow hides from the Harvey Bros. warehouse in Holt Sr. and William Holt Jr. and another Black man were charged with theft of a jot valued at 50 dollars from Franklin.

London dispatch reports Athens filled with rumors that 300 sailors from the cruiser Averoff mutinied. The crew and marine detachments were sent away in boats, with other fleet ships said to have quelled the mutiny. The Averoff, armored cruiser built in 1919, has a 550 man crew.
Former Greek premier Venizelos declares in a cable from Athens that Greeks must defend national interests regardless of the government. He criticizes neutrality policies after the Kavala incident and notes actions at Saloniki and in the islands show the nation must take defense into its own hands.
Sidney J Bowie of Birmingham Alabama a former congressman will address the Central Trades Council at an open meeting next Wednesday speaking in support of the education amendment to be voted on in November. Berlin reports the capture of the British steamship Colchester by German sea forces on Thursday night. The vessel was taken to Zeebrugge in Belgium, according to the Overseas News Agency.
Eliza English reported to the sheriff's office that her Duval Street home near Linscombe tract was burglarized Friday at noon. Three dresses a gold breast pin and a silver stick pin were stolen. The rear door was forced open.
Rev. Father T. J. Eaton of St. Mary's Catholic church in Lafay ette reported to the sheriff's office Saturday that his bay horse, about 1000 pounds with a white star on the forehead, was stolen from Tyrrell's pasture near Three Mile Creek in Toulminville.

EB A de Funiak general freight agent for Louisville and Nashville testified at an Interstate Commerce Commission hearing on proposed freight rate increases for fruit and vegetables from Gulf and Southeastern states to northern and western cities. He said the railroad loses about four dollars per car of strawberries from Castleberry Alabama due to higher minimum loads and suspended rates acting as reductions rather than increases when carload shipments occur.
A railroad executive said losses are preferable to using 400 cars for the strawberry crop and would rather move 200 carloads. He noted Alabama-Florida watermelon traffic earned only $1,900 more this season than last, with $6.03 extra per car. Truckers and growers’ associations will be heard next week, likely starting Monday, on proposed rate increases.

Berlin reports the Somme front near Combles Rancourt and Courcelette saw renewed fighting by Anglo-French forces against Crown Prince Rupprecht’s troops. Neither side secured a decisive breakthrough, according to the German official statement dated Sept 23.
