Three hundred insurrectos were chased by Mexican cavalry opposite Langtry Texas as Mrs Pascual y Jr waits for news of her husband, a rebel leader held by U S authorities. Orozco’s father-in-law warns federals may kill him if surrendered.
Rebels driven from Ojinaga by federals retook the town Sunday have evacuated San Francis 60 and are fleeing toward the Rio Grande. General Steever reports to the war department today that General Aubert of the Mexican federal forces reached Ojinaga yesterday and sent cavalry in pursuit.
Three hundred rebels are reported opposite Langley Texas across the border in Mexico with no border guard present. A request has been made to Governor Colquitt for protection as fears grow that the raiders may attack Texas ranches again.
Mexican federal officers who held back reinforcements for El Tigre were to be shot for cowardice according to General Sanjines. Reports say Nacozari relief forces arrived near El Tigre nine hours before capture. General Sanjines vowed execution after identifying the responsible party. A $5000 reward was authorized for 21 bars of bullion seized from El Tigre by Salazar.
Preparations are underway for the fair to be held November 11 12 and 18 with cooperation from Superintendent Maloney of the agricultural department. Honduras product displays will attract visitors and may be housed in the women’s department. The Made in Mobile effort garners strong support from manufacturers in the city. Mr Otte Nack chairs the committee inviting all local producers to join. Catalog and premium list are delayed but will be printed and distributed when ready. Washington Sept 17 It is reported Alabama State National Guard batteries D and BR will be kept in Mobile camp fifteen days longer in case the United States intervenes in Mexico. The batteries near Monroe Park are well equipped and praised by U S army officers. Some say Mobile would be a rendezvous for National Guard companies if state troops are sent to Mexico.
Mobile baseball manager Michael Finn departed for Little Rock last night after a friendly banquet. Secretary C Z Colsson noted Mobile bought several players and drafted others but awaits the AA draft list to decide on the club’s future.
Bertram G. Spencer, once a masked burglar, was electrocuted at 12:18:02 this morning in Charles Town State Prison for the murder of Miss Itha B. Blackstone in Springfield on March 31, 1916. He walked unassisted into the chair, addressed witnesses, and said the act was not nerve but God’s love before a calm, final execution.
George C. Morrison president of the Title Guarantee and Trust Company of Baltimore died by inhaling gas in a private Baltimore Athletic Club room. A note blamed a yellow newspaper for the trouble and self sacrifice following Governor Goldsborough’s accusations of misrepresentation linked to Harford racing legislation. Morrison, 48, led Maryland Democratic advisory efforts and faced a grand jury inquiry into Havre de Grace track.
Local manufacturers show little interest in exhibits for the Lord Roberts voyage to South America. Only two firms had submitted exhibits despite plans by the Chamber of Commerce and Business League to prepare a comprehensive display. James W. The British tank steamer Romany arrived from Singapore with 6,000 tons of benzine produced in Sumatra and Burma. The oil will enter competition with Standard Oil Company products. Preparation has been made for handling large quantities of the Asiatic oil.

Democrats from Iowa South Dakota and Nebraska hailed Governor Wilson in Sioux City as he arrived for the Interstate Fair. He rode in a car tour met Sioux Indians inducted into their order and planned a speech on pure food laws before a return train to Sioux Falls.
Morris Forchheimer, long time prominent local merchant, died shortly before 3 PM at his home 43 Government Street after a brief illness.
Reports from Mobile say M. Forcheimer a leading wholesaler and pioneer in Central American trade is gravely ill at age 87. He has not worked for days and is under care at 941 Government Street with family at his bedside as sympathy flows from commercial circles.
Two delegates to the International Congress of Applied Chemistry arrived from New York and will spend two days touring mills mines and laboratories in the Pittsburg district after an eight day session in New York.
The City Commission discussed J. C. Grenade the Central market butcher occupying six stalls and using more than half the space. He was asked to pay for all space used or surrender extra area. The meeting approved lights and other sidewalk projects and approved bid payments totaling 58 358 69 with bond retirement and insurance refunds.
Fairhope residents chose socialist candidate J F Johnson as mayor over incumbent H S Greene and single tax candidate J M Pilcher. Johnson won by one vote over Greene and by two over Pilcher after a heated campaign by factions on the Eastern shore town.

Two robbers boarded the Memphis to York mail car near Stevenson Alabama and forced four clerks to lie down. They escaped after hiding in woods, with thirty registered letters missing though Post Office officials say losses may be around a thousand dollars.
