Miss Margaret Webb spent a brief city visit hosted by Miss Ella Wheeler before returning to Daphne for vacation. Julian and Monning McPhillips ended Battle’s vacation to enroll at Spring Hill College in Mobile. Mrs Dorgan and Mrs Porter with daughter Jessie headed to Atlantic City after Saratoga. John Will plans a business venture in Mobile. Several others return from Point Clear, Saratoga or Haywood to Mobile or Montgomery for autumn and winter stays.
Mr. J. F. Atkinson came back to the city yesterday from White Sulphur Springs Virginia. Mrs. John Shearer and her family enjoying seashore life at Point Clear was a guest in the city yesterday. Mrs. Rivers Rush and Misses Lucile and Mary Knight Rush with Master Rivers Rush and Miss Maitelyn Fowlkes spent the summer at Battles Wharf and returned yesterday.
Mrs W F E Mickle Jr returns to Spring Hill after a pleasant summer at Battles. Miss Annie Lou Anfield departs Point Clear after guests with Mrs Tom Cook. Captain Jack Clancy of Grand Hotel Point Clear visits Mobile en route to Montgomery. Mr Tom Stevens leaves for a brief trip to French Lick Spring Indiana.
Misses Katherine and Marie Shar man of Meridian returned home after a pleasant visit to their sister Mrs. John Schley on Selma street. A. J. Spencer will leave soon for the lumber camp near oe in autumn. Miss Nina Spencer will join her father for an outing at the camp to practice shooting riding fishing and hunting and become skilled in outdoor sports.
Mrs W H Martin returns home after visiting her sister Mrs A B McGraw and Mrs William Wright at Meridian. Mary Holmes has recovered from a serious summer attack and resumes her literary work. H B McMillan and twin daughters Leila and Ita return to the city after weeks at Battle's Wharf. Mr and Mrs R Rapier visit relatives in Birmingham and return home. Mr and Mrs S G Neuberger are also noted.
Messrs. Lawrence and S. J. Jr., who stayed at the Grand Hotel in Point Clear, have returned home. Mrs. Mary Sledge Jones, who spent the summer at Point Clear, has returned to the city. Mrs. Ridolph Richards of Selma, formerly Miss Meyer of Mobile, and her two daughters are visiting sister Mrs. Lewis Streletz in Pensacola.
Birmingham hosts the Alabama Good Roads Association state convention October 8 to 10 with a round table format. Executive committee meets September 7 to finalize the program, with J A Rountree optimistic about the event’s importance and broad delegate participation.
