Rotary clubs and civic groups in Alabama Florida Mississippi and Louisiana announce a project to build a major east West highway to be named the Old Spanish Trail connecting the gulf states.
A plan to build a highway from New Orleans to Miami via Mobile Jacksonville St Augustine and Palm Beach. The third Thursday in November 18 will decide routes and a second convention to study extending the trail to the Pacific Coast.
A joint good roads drive by the Rotary Club and the Chamber of Commerce urges Alabama Florida Mississippi and Louisiana to unite for an East West tourist highway from the Gulf coast linking Mobile to New Orleans and Miami. The plan envisions a first Southern Route highway spanning the gulf and serving year round travel, contrasting with northern winter closures.
In Selma Alabama on October 22 Katherine Cameron 17 daughter of C K Cameron of the Mobile division of the Southern Railroad died from crushed and internal injuries after a wreck involving C H Inkerman's car driven by Frank Goode a negro chauffeur. Bryan Warren of Montgomery had been killed earlier in the same crash and Eugene Kendricks of Massillon Alabama was involved along with Francis Inkerman William Quarles and Florence Gray Vaughan who sustained injuries. The driver of the negro's car fled the scene.
Weather overview shows fair to high conditions with little temperature change and light to moderate winds. Washington forecast notes Alabama expects local rains tonight and Saturday partly cloudy with northwest to north winds, Mississippi remains fair with gentle to moderate north winds.

Payment will equal the market value of the port of shipment on the shipment date, with contracts of the same dates guiding the price. This follows Britain placing cotton on the contraband list and aiming to support the market.
A Mobile display highlights century old handwork from St. Albans Vermont woven on a loom. Mrs E M Downer owns the 104 year old wool blanket.
