Ambassador Gerard held a final conference with Secretary Lansing before sailing for Germany on December 5. Officials note discussion likely covered submarine policy and deportations of Belgians. Juarez Nov 27 The final outcome of the clash between de facto government forces and Villistas near Chihuahua City was not yet known. Carranza officials said Villa’s attempt to take the city appeared thwarted, though reports from the battlefield say bandits entered the city and suffered heavy losses on both sides.
AP report from Chihuahua City via Marfa last night describes short range fighting on Zarco avenue Saturday. Government troops repelled the bandits with machine gun and artillery fire as Villa directed the attack from a mobile, with the bandit leader fleeing on horseback.
Carranza officials report Jose Ynez Salazar seriously wounded on Saturday as fighting continued late. Meanwhile reports from El Paso say Villa released Chihuahua prison prisoners before retreating, but Carranza officials deny receiving such advices.
General Francisco Gonzales announced that garrisons at Namiqupa San Buena Venturie Casag Grandes and Guzman near American expeditionary forces would be moved to Juarez then Chihuahua City to reinforce troops fighting Villa. He said about 756 men were in the garrisons.

Sofia dispatch reports Bulgar German forces under Field Marshal von Mackensen crossed the Danube twice east of the Alt Valley. The first crossing occurred near Sivistova about fifty miles east of the Alt valley, and a second crossing was made near Somovit at the mouth of the Alt.
Paris dispatch reports Bulgarian forces on the Macedonian front halted their counter attack on the Cerna river region last night. Serbian lines held with light Bulgarian losses as Italian forces reportedly advance west of Monastir.
London dispatch says our artillery was active last night near La Bassee with other reports confirming ongoing activity on the front. The official frontline update notes continued bombardment and engagement in the area as troops maneuver.
