Arthur Shattuck the wealthy American musician now living in Berlin left for Christiana to attend the first performance of the festival piece Canatana by Norwegian composer Christiahn Sending for the centennial celebration. The item also lists local social events and engagements through May 23.
Monday May 18 events include Woman's Musical Club at 8 p.m. with Mrs Winston Jones and a hayride hosted by Mr Frank Ellis. Tuesday May 19 features the Dwyer Leinkauf wedding at 9 p.m. at the bride’s parents home, Home Economics Club meeting at 11 a.m. in Chamber of Commerce rooms, and a lawn party for St Bridget’s Church rain postponed to the next afternoon. Also Tuesday Evening Dancing Class at Smith grafanola hall at 8 p.m. and Mrs Sid Dorgan’s morning porch party. Monday Club with Miss Leona Wetherbee at 3:30 p.m. Mrs J N Reeves hosts the Dalton Club at 3 p.m. Miss Virginia Creary hosts cards at 3 p.m. in honor of Miss Marguerite Festorazzi’s guest. Miss Birdge Supple of Bayou Gould La.
Delegates Mrs Moulton Mrs Glennon and Mrs Christian returned home from Tuscaloosa after representing Electra Semmes Colston Chapter at the eighteenth state U D C convention. Druid City hosted the event with Mrs Cade and Mrs Maxwell entertaining. The chapter meets Thursday at Harte Auditorium to hear the convention report and elect officers. Home Economics Club meets Tuesday at 11 with Judge Edington delivering an address and guests welcome.
