Hustlers and stevedores fill the municipal sheds at Dauphin street to St Anthony street as twenty five carloads of fertilizer over 15000 bales of cotton sacks of feed and other freight arrive from river packets and Mobile liners. The scene marks a rare span of prosperity along the waterfront with busy activity expected this week and next.
Inspector of Weights and Measures John A. has been busy visiting city bakeries to test the weight of loaves of bread. Mr. Hughes said the tests were made for the Home Economics Club and will be turned over to the club for publication of the results.
J L Baskin formerly with Reynald's Music House leaves to join Love man Joseph Loeb a large department store in Birmingham He has been a long time resident with many friends in this city and was seen as a rising figure in the Victrola business in the South He moves from Mobile to fill a responsible role with the Birmingham firm.
Jesse Nearer, an African American man brought to Mobile on February 26 for a shooting, was returned to Brewton, Escambia County, to stand trial for the killing in the southern part of Brewton. The case centers on a violent incident tied to local tensions and the alleged murder.

The Mechanics Relief Association held its thirty first annual meeting and election at the hall on Wednesday night March 24 with a large turnout. Officers elected for the year include A J Leibert as president Thomas J Conboy as vice president A S Picker as financial secretary N Lehmann as recording secretary Charles Fuller as treasurer William Brabner as sentinel George J Sullivan as attorney and Drs S E Pugh E B Dreaper R C Jones as medical examiners trustees named A J Leibert A S Picker John F Holley W E Bolling P Delahounty with W E Bolling W B Lemp and Ed Carlin on the finance committee and John F Holley as editor. The gathering featured enthusiastic talk on the order’s rapid growth now near 700 members locally and ongoing new applications.
Palm Grove No 7 Woodman's Circle held a March 23 meeting with large turnout. Mrs Rosa Strand presided and applications were read for committee investigation. Delegates from the head camp convention spoke briefly and Ella Duff, charter member, was elected grand chaplain to the head camp.
At a Thursday meeting the open charter was extended for thirty days into April. Many new members joined last month and are urged to take advantage. Early in April the newly elected officers will be installed in a gala event. A large class initiation is planned for next Thursday with a big crowd expected.
Roderick D. MacKenzie, with slides from his India years, lectures this afternoon at 3:30 in the YMCA Harte Auditorium. About 100 slides cover imperial cities Delhi Agra the Securidra Tomi of the Emperor and the Taj Mahal. Admission is free.
The Munson Steamship Line will move into a two story brick office building at Pier 5 foot of the Munson pier. The office of manager will be located in the new premises and the entire facility is expected to be ready for occupation within the coming month.
John Law filed a report with the police Saturday about a bicycle missing from a porch at a residence on the street front. Police are investigating the theft and seeking information.
