Waite Denies Poison Charge In Peck Fatal Case

Dr. Arthur Warren Waite a New York dentist and tennis champion denied poisoning his father in law John E. Peck in his first statement after a district attorney order. He admitted putting something in Peck’s soup but called it medicine and said Dr Moore instructed it. The district attorney cited arsenic purchases and alleged misused funds from Miss Catherine Peck. Investigation continues with grand jury and exhibits from Waite’s library.

Pablo Villareal the Villa bandit who robbed cattle buyer Juan Bilboa and obtained a $1,500 ransom was arrested at Sanderson Texas. He likely will be turned over to Carranza for punishment.

Liner Alamo Towed Toward New York After Distress

The Mal lory liner Alamo with fifty passengers in distress from a broken rudder and disabled engine was towed by the Algonquin and is Expected to arrive in New York tomorrow. The two ships were 143 miles south of Sandy Hook with the coast guard cutter Onondaga aiding. Earlier, a tug responded but could not reach the Alamo.

Missing Army Aviator Found Near Ascension

Lieut. Edgard S. Gorrell of the U S Aero Corps, missing since last Sunday, was found Thursday three miles south of Ascension by a motor truck train under Lt. J. L. Parkinson Twentieth Infantry. He was uninjured but out of gasoline and lost.

Senate Debates Treason Resolution and Impeachment Hearings

The day in Congress included a resolution by Senator Lewis declaring aiding Villa treasonable. The House opened with immigration debate at 1 a.m. Judiciary hearings on impeachment against United States Attorney Marshall continued. The naval committee reviewed national defense hearings and Speaker Clark ordered an expunging inquiry. Weather forecase notes mild changes, and Alabama parts show partly cloudy skies with warmer temperatures tonight and Saturday.

Garcia Flores, a Spanish merchant from Chihuahua, says Villa boarded a northbound train near Moctezuma 85 miles northeast of Chihuahua, searched cars, threatened Americans, and left with supplies. He notes General Herrera joined Villa three days earlier with 2000 troops. Wires between Chihuahua and Torreon were cut three days ago.
