Attorney T M Stevens narrowly escaped injury Friday when his car, driven by James Horn, struck a fire plug at Government and Dearborn streets. The right wheel was demolished and the plug broken off, causing a geyser of street water as Horn swerved to avoid a collision. The other car involved was unoccupied at the time.
Montgomery reports Mrs Maude Hawke Wright, a native of St Clair, was held prisoner for two weeks by Villa and his gang of bandits and released after she was placed at the head of the outfit. Information came by telephone last night.

General Garcia among two Mexican wounded who died early at the army hospital in Columbus New Mexico. A larger force of armed civilians hastily heads toward Gibson's ranch fifteen miles west after reports of Mexican bandits near the area. Colonel Slocum orders steps to verify the report.
The French bark Ville du Havre of 3169 tons was sunk in the Atlantic while in ballast. Twenty six crew members saved, two are reported lost. The incident was confirmed from London reports dated March 10.
