German admiral backs Dewey on Manila Bay signal
Rear Admiral Brussakis, a retired German naval officer, says the Cormorant received a blank shot at Manila Bay on May 9, 1898, and an American officer relayed a blockade notification. His account supports Dewey's version and refutes von Diederichs claim that no notice was given. Count von Reventlow disputes the episode, accusing Dewey of imagination.
