Tampa Route on Map as Old Spanish Trail Link

National Highway Association lists the Tampa advocated west coast route as part of the Old Spanish Trail and Jefferson Davis Memorial Highway. Pensacola and Mobile plan events to rally support, with a special train from Gainesville and barge tours for west Florida delegates. Two Men Convicted of Prohibition Violation

Charles Fritz and Leslie Lancashire were convicted of violating prohibition laws and fined $75 and costs each. Two veniremen in 38 examined stated they would not convict any man of prohibition violation regardless of the evidence.

Two More Acquittals in Prohibition Cases

Harry Puckett and Joseph William son were acquitted in city court on Tuesday in prohibition law cases. Nick Andros reported the jury was out and William McGrath’s case was continued until Wednesday.

Charles John Gayfer senior member of C J Gayfer & Co died at 8 15 this morning at Southern Infirmary after an illness from Thanksgiving Day He was born May 24 1847 in Southwold England and had lived here nearly fifty years Survivors include his son Hammond B Gayfer his wife Caroline Surbeck a sister and a brother Funeral arrangements and pallbearers from his company were to be announced later

Mobile license inspector named for Mobile county

B F McMillan Jr of Mobile has been appointed license inspector for Mobile County. Alton P Stephens of Birmingham named inspector for Jefferson County and Frank Peabody of Montgomery for Montgomery County. In total 34 inspectors named by the state board of equalization and approved by Governor Henderson. L N pays taxes totaling 105978.08 as third installment bringing total over 400000. taxes due in Jefferson Mobile Calhoun Morgan counties to be paid this week. State public service commission opens hearings on 10 percent rate increases for several railways including Atlanta Birmingham and Atlantic and Seaboard lines.

Citizens endorse state bond issue at mass meeting

A large audience at the Lyric theatre heard the Henderson plan for a 1.5 million bond issue to meet the state's debt. M J McDermott presided. Morris Forcheimer read supportive letters from A C Danner and Albert P Bush as local leaders urged endorsement.

Beach Highway to be Built in Gulfport Area

Gulfport Mississippi. December 7 special. Board of supervisors meets with no opposition to 200000 road bond issue approved in November. Bonds to fund two roads a coastal beach highway and a north gulfport road. Concrete paving favored to attract Jackson highway route. Front road grading near completion after the storm. Shriners Parade Through Mobile Opens Ceremonial Week

Abta Temple Nobles of the Mystic Shrine opened their ceremonial session with a downtown parade featuring the Arab patrol and drum corps. After the march, a luncheon was served at the Scottish Rite Cathedral.
