The Teutonic forces capture Bucharest and Ploiești, with Romanian retirement in the Tergovi and Ploiești sector. German advance continues on the Macedonian front as Russian and Austrian lines see unit losses and repositioning amid ongoing hostilities.

Paris reports further progress by Franco-Serbian forces on the Macedonian front with 125 prisoners taken in yesterday’s fighting. A heavy artillery engagement continues northwest of Monastir as winter operations unfold.
Reported war office dispatches describe renewed Russian assaults in the Carpathians with limited gains, plus a strong push in the Trotus valley and raids north of Sinaia. Marshal Mackensen’s forces advance toward Bucharest, seizing rail lines and forcing Romanian evacuations. more than 6,000 Russians reported captured.
An Associated Press dispatch from Amsterdam via Sofia claims Bucharest has fallen and a central force will capture Avlona and connect with Greek forces, signaling continued Axis advances in the Balkans.
The annual election of officers for Camp No. 5 Woodmen of the World is set for tonight with a full ballot. The list includes consul commander A. S. Car, adviser lieutenant H. William, banker E. F. Kopaoeee and Cogburn, escort W. H. Stevens J. A. Vautrot, watchman J. F., sentry George Mandich Untrevier, auditor Charles Ihomine, and camp 1 Drs. S. F. Hale and J. T.
Police report a wave of home burglaries and petty thefts across the city. Items stolen include three gold watches, five gold rings with initials, and three five dollar bills from Miss Margaret Fletcher on Cleveland street, and items from Mrs Kristiansen on Florida street. A turkey was taken from 509 Spring Hill avenue. Chief Van Liew says plain clothes detectives will target residential areas as stolen goods move beyond pawnshops.
Nighttime burglaries struck seven Crichton residences on Chichester street. Entry targets included Leslie Young Z Agee Frank A Giuli W T Wilson Mrs W Mplling Mrs O Creech and Mrs M Southerland with a gold watch clothing and groceries stolen. Deputy sheriffs W H Holcombe and associates pursue leads.

Preparations near completion for Satsuma Day festivities the large parade expected to draw thousands from Mobile Baldwin County and parts of Mississippi. L. G. Addins announces the community with the most autos will lead the march. Owners should assemble at Government Street loop at 10 o'clock for a 10 30 departure.
Mobile merchants invited to a Thursday luncheon at the Battle House auditorium with 500 plates. Governor Henderson and Mrs Henderson, Gov Bilbo and other state officials expected. Two bands perform in Battle House lobby and Bienville Square. Satsuma colors and decorations featured.
Mobile men were honored at two fraternal gatherings. Dr. John H. McCormick was elected grand high priest of Royal Arch Masons at Montgomery and then grand conductor of the Royal and Sel mas ter Masons. Charles A Johnston was elected grand master of the Second Veil, Elliott Rickar became sec and master of the Odd Fellows, and A D Bloch placed second for grand master. Only up-state forces toppled the Mobilians.
An eye shaped like a miniature snake outline in a hen's eggshell was presented to the office this morning. The egg was laid by a hen owned by Mr. J. P. Woodhead of Toulminville. The carved snake figure is coiled with a clearly defined head and eyes and the egg will be shown and preserved.
New York Dec 6 The Central Powers push toward Bucharest with a northwest thrust threatening the capital while Romanian forces retreat along the Ploesti corridor. Entente efforts in Macedonia progress as Serbian advances along Brunisthe region push Bulgarians into retreat after fortifications fall.
The Westminster Gazette reports Bonar Law declined to form a cabinet and the king has asked Lloyd George. Exchange Telegraph confirms Law’s refusal to form a new government. Observers doubt Lloyd George’s chances to assemble a ministry, while many expect Asquith to lead again soon.
The report outlines a split among Liberal leaders as Asquith loses several ministers to retirement. Lloyd George cannot secure broader Labor support. Herbert Samuel remains Home Secretary with Montagu in Munitions. The King summons cabinet members to Buckingham Palace to seek a resolution as Bonar Law and allies back a lighter war council.
Mrs. EB. E. Starcher defeats her husband in a mayoral election in Umatilla Oregon, reported by the Associated Press. The race concluded yesterday with Starcher securing the mayoralty.
Crew members, Americans arriving aboard the Espagne from Bordeaux, report the steamship John Lambert was shelled and sunk off the Isle of Wight on November 22 after the U-boat fired twelve shots. The vessel, built on the Great Lakes and purchased by the French line, were en route to Havre for delivery when hit.
The DeBardeleben Coal Company plans to open 3000 acres of Brookwood seam coal along the Warrior river and ship about 25 000 tons monthly by water to Mobile and New Orleans. The move aims to lower bunker coal prices from 5.00 to 4.25–4.50 and ease rail car shortages with a new Warrior river storage yard and dock.
Sixteen crew members arrived today without their captain reporting they rowed forty miles to the French coast after a twelve hour voyage. They witnessed the John Lambert sink two unidentified vessels, a steamship and a bark, following a submarine attack. The John Lambert, 1550 tons gross built in Chicago in 1903, last of twelve Great Lakes ships sent to France. The vessel reportedly flew the French flag when going down, though not formally turned over.
A weather report predicts rain today and Thursday with likely light winds. Temperatures should turn cooler by week’s end after today’s showers, as dense gulf fogs ease.

Mobile Carnival officials led by Arter Davis promise a premier masquerade ball during Carnival week. The committee aims to make the public dance safe and central to Mobile's celebration, with Davis predicting the biggest Carnival yet.
Ten dollars in gold will be awarded for the best slogan for the 1917 Mobile Mardi Gras celebration. The prize was decided at a directors meeting at the Cawthon Hotel. Submissions go to Gordon Smith, publicity committee chair, which will judge them.
Fred D. Poplin, 17, of Mobile, Virginia native, died Wednesday morning at a local infirmary after being accidentally shot in the head and body on October 25 while hunting along Three Mile Creek. He had lived in Mobile about eight years and is survived by his mother, Mrs Susie Poplin, and two brothers.
Four Mobile groups including the Rotary Club Chamber of Commerce Mobile Typographical Union No 27 and the Carnival Association are jointly advancing plans for a city public library. A Rotary Club led movement has drawn widespread support and a cooperative committee is pushing toward establishing a library in Mobile not a Carnegie library.
