The West Indian hurricane has moved westward toward Texas with warnings from Corpus Christi to Brownsville. Ships in nearby ports advised to seek safe passage toward Cuban and Central American ports as the storm center remains east of the Rio Grande mouth.
The tropical storm is expected to reach the United States along the Texas coast. Hurricane warnings were issued for Corpus Christi and Brownsville, with storm warnings for the rest of the Texas coast. The disturbance nears the Rio Grande mouth while the center stays offshore. Gulf shipping may resume safely toward Cuban and Central American ports.
Reports from Gulf coast weather stations indicate a tropical disturbance moving from the Yucatan channel is expected to inland near the Rio Grande or along the lower Texas coast. Brownsville logs a 29.70 barometer with 20 mph north wind, Corpus Christi 29.82 with 24 mph north wind, Galveston 29.92 with 25 mph east wind. Continued on Page Six.

O Connell, editor of the Mobile Tribune, will not face the chamber directors tonight over treason charges brought by L C Irvine. The case will be heard by the full Chamber of Commerce on Monday night as President E M Bailey approved the postponement at O Connell's request.
Thirty one railroad presidents told President Wilson they backed their managers committee that eight hours is impractical. Wilson refused to accept no and asked them to return tomorrow for another conference as unrest over labor trouble dominated White House talks.

Robert McMillan, ice wagon driver for Crystal Ice Co., was fined 15 dollars or 15 days by Recorder D. H. Edington after being charged with shortweight sales. The recorder said he fined $15 as the victim but warned that any future complainant would face a $50 fine.
A Norwegian steamer captain reported seeing the German merchant submarine Deutschland eight days out of Virginia capes. He believed the vessel in distress, but received a reply saying it was the Deutschland sailing safely toward Bremen.
Fort Morgan authorities announce a quarantine against all children from Mobile aged 14 years and under due to reported infantile paralysis cases. Orders also bar Fort visitors from Mobile children.
James H. Webb files a 5000 dollar damages suit in the law and equity court Thursday against Lloyd E. Warner executor of the estate of Captain Peter F. Albea. Webb alleges excessive speed caused a crash on Dickens Ferry road that left him with a broken nose and facial disfigurement.
Mrs Clara McGraw widow of Alex S McGraw aged 52 died suddenly Friday at 3 30 am at her home 252 Adams Street from an attack of acute indigestion She was a Mobile native and is survived by two sons Thomas and Alexander two daughters Mrs R D Bell three sisters Mrs Mary Hamilton Mrs Josie Pfau and Mrs Cora J Winchester and was a devolout member of St Patrick's Catholic church
Richard Wines Jr filed his bond as secretary of Mobile County school board in probate court. Elizabeth Harleston Broun, appointed a notary, filed her bond Thursday afternoon.
A Thursday afternoon fire lightly damaged a two story frame building at the northwest corner of Royal and Palmetto streets owned by M. L. Campbell and housing Flanagan Brothers. A faulty flue caused the blaze. The dwelling at 412 South Royal Street was also slightly damaged and occupied by Clara Taylor, owned by the estate of James McPhillips.
Officers Pennington and Bi report an unknown man dropped a Rhode Island red rooster at Marine and Palmetto streets and fled when approached. A brief chase followed as bystanders described a hurried scene near Seaca streets.
At the American legation in Managua Nicaragua United States Marines are fed iguana steaks fried or broiled with a sauce of alligator pears. Iguanas known as giant Azar are herbivorous and long used by natives for food.

Washington August 18 The child labor bill passed the Senate without debate or a record vote and after House action with Senate amendments accepted without change it goes to the president for approval.
Lonnie Vance appeared in the recorder court on grand larceny charges after Lola Cameron testified he stole 24 dollars from Vaughan property held by Cameron. Vance, previously jailed for assaulting D. F. Moseley, denied the accusation and was held under $200 bond for city court action.
Mrs. Quiron Allbrook of Meridian Mississippi reported to police the loss of 60 dollars and two railroad tickets left on a bench in Bienville Square. She returned to find both money and tickets missing.
The will of Bernhard Kahn, a noted cotton man and manufacturer, was filed in probate court. He bequeaths $500 to the Jewish Orphans Home of New Orleans and $100 to each Catholic and Protestant orphan asylum in the city. The remainder goes to relatives.
Ambassador W H Page and his wife, arriving from England on the Philadelphia, visit their children in Garden City New York. After a few days he will go to Washington. He has been abroad three years and returns to his post in late October. He declines to forecast the war’s duration.
Only two prohibition cases were on the docket of the recorder court Friday and they were both continued. Defendants Henry Thomas and John Potter will be tried August 22 and 24 respectively. Deputies found a tub of cold beer in bottles at John Wheeler's place. the beer was confiscated and will be held as evidence.
Deputies intensified Thursday afternoon actions under the prohibition law and located prohibited liquor at multiple sites including Jake Fresh at 250 Pecan Street, A. W. Kelly at 202 Davis Avenue, Fred Shaffer at 156 North Royal Street, Flannigan Brothers at 422 South Royal Street, Hotel St. Andrew on North Royal Street, Schmidling at Conti and Commerce Streets, and John Isley at Lipscomb and Claiborne Streets.

City enforcement under Chief G M Van Liew fines three drivers a dollar each for failing to turn right as required. Other owners are cited for leaving horses tied to wagons and must display licenses.
President Wilson vetoed the army bill due to exemptions for retired officers. Representative Hay announced re introduction with all war article features removed. Hay aims to pass the bill under a special rule next Tuesday amid Senate opposition and risk of re inserting articles of war.
J E Padgett 24 of Chattanooga Tennessee died of injuries from a fall under a southbound Louisville Nashville freight train near St Elmo Alabama. He and companions were chased by a brakeman as they rode the train. Padgett was crushed after contact with a cattle guard and taken to Mobile City Hospital.
