Damages Awarded Against Former Justice of the Peace

A circuit court jury awarded Raymond English 60 dollars Albert Logan 135 dollars Tom James 50 dollars and Will English 72.50 dollars against James MaMahon a Wheelerville precinct former Justice of the Peace and his bondsmen the American Bonding Company. Plaintiffs were arrested by McMahon s constables and jailed briefly before fines. McMahon resigned after a grand jury investigation found the arrests without cause.

Man Killed by Mobile and Ohio Passenger Train

Mark Collier, about 55, a resident of Congress street near Joachim, was fatally struck by Mobile and Ohio No. 7 southbound near Three-mile creek about 11 15 am Saturday. He attempt to cross the track after being seen sitting beside it and was cut in two. The coroner viewed the remains at his home.

Motorcycle Cop on Night Shift in Mobile

Chief Crenshaw announced that Mobile will assign one of its two motorcycle officers to night duty from noon to midnight starting May to curb joy riding and speeders. Government Engineer to Lead Mobile County Roads

At a Saturday meeting of Mobile County officials Fay McClure of Marshall Texas was elected permanent county road engineer at 170 dollars per month. The appointment follows a recommendation by U S Director of Public Roads A L Page and the board's support for a high grade engineer to oversee road upkeep countywide.
