Milton Hendryx was elected city clerk by the city commission at a special meeting Monday, serving first at the noon meeting Tuesday. Ex City Clerk John D. McMahon retired to private life after ten years of service. McMahon was praised for his decade with the city. Hendryx previously worked in the office of Chief Counsel Sidney R. Prince of the Mobile and Ohio Railroad.

Hamilton said Mobile would always be in his heart and he would return home often during his term. He leaves for Washington and New York after visiting his daughter in Charlottesville and will vacation in Mobile next July.
