Domestic difficulties end in pistol clash over wife
Braithwait, a West Center Street man, shot Henry Palmer in a stairway confrontation after discovering Palmer visiting his wife. The rusted thirty two caliber revolver misfired but Palmer was wounded in the left temple. Braithwait fled, Palmer disappeared, and a divorce and custody dispute loom as Braithwait seeks alimony and access to their eight year old daughter. He plans to file, while Palmer may have left town.

Three suspects Charlie Miller Orville Steiner and Frank Kenny were arrested Monday evening on Weert Center street for illegal sale of intoxicants in a dry area. They denied the charges asserting persecution and claimed no evidence exists. Arraigned before Mayor Stherf, trials set for today and tomorrow with Miller at 10 am Kendy at 2 pm and Steiner at 2 pm tomorrow.

The Home Guards of America lodge held a Monday evening gathering in their quarters with entertainment including songs and instrumental music and a card game. Miss Mable Gearhiser gave a reclining performance and a careful animal care exhibit was presented by the degree team. A spread followed as many members attended despite a large turnout and much business was discussed. Delegates planned a January 11 meeting in Kouducko to audit the lodge’s finances.
