Long, a Troy lawyer and former state senator, is 60, married with a son at Dartmouth. Devanny, son of Michael Devanny, is a longtime Democrat and the appointment is viewed as personal. The report notes other Harm on county applicants and that no more appointments are expected before the inauguration.
