Sandra Durst, editor, announced the final deadline of October 14 for faculty and students to subscribe to The Log yearbook. Subscriptions cost 4.08 dollars and are settled via the registrar’s office. 800 copies have already sold and the 200 page book will feature a 16 page increase with a designed cover.
Four freshmen gospel quartet members attend Lee University and sing with Pam Phelps as accompanist. The group—Gary Burroughs lead, Sharon Shaddix first tenor, LeRoy Krolczyk bass, Ronnie Welch second tenor—has performed at Heights Bayou First Bayshore Baptist churches and for the Associational Youth Rally.
Dean of Students Alton Laird announced ID cards can be made for students missing cards during registration. The sessions run 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the Student Union, upstairs in his office.
The Lantern will introduce a new cartoon character whose name is chosen from five candidates. Twenty five suggestions were submitted in the Student Union box and Journalism 672a selected the top five: Colonel Leber, Lad From Lee, Little Lee, Riding Reb, Batred The Reb Baron. Voters pick their preferred name at the Student Union booth.

The controversy led to a state senate probe and funding withheld, while campus groups pressed for self governance and a university run review. Presidential quotes defended free student expression amid budget tensions.
Balloting continues through Wednesday for four run-off elections for class officers and representatives. In the main election 281 students voted. fresh men Dennis Williams and Doyle Toups won president and vice president positions, with Randy Beckman as representative. Sophomore leaders include John Drouilhet as president and Sammy Hance as vice president with Anna Sawberger as secretary treasurer.
Guest speakers for the 1966 67 Lyceum series will cover music drama journalism philosophy and current issues Dr Josephine Sobrino of the University of Houston speaks Oct 25 on Indian cultures in Mexico and the Tarahumara plight Education officials and student council members organize the committee seeking speaker suggestions for next fall decisions to be made in spring.
Two Lee College instructors James C. Maroney and Glynn L. Tiller will publish papers through the Public Affairs Research Center at the University of Houston. The project, directed by Dr. Dan D. Nimm, interviewed 63 Harris County legislative candidates during the 1966 Democratic primary campaigns.
Today is the final day for Log photographs through 1 30 p m in the Student Union studio. Photographs have been taken Monday and Tuesday. Any student faculty or staff member who has not yet been photographed should do so today said editor Sandra Durst.
