Lee College faculty will honor May graduates with an 8:30 a m breakfast in the Student Lounge. The event marks the 21st anniversary with a history picturing college leaders. Mrs Lynn O Hagan directs serving. Miss Minnie Alice Robertson planned the program.

Secretarial Class Tours Humble Oil Office in April Field Trip
Miss Reba K Neel s secretarial practice class visited Humble Oil and Refining Co in Baytown on April 29 to observe a large corporation office They toured the tabulating department with guide R J Baethe and saw the card collator and counting devices including the document originating machine and the drum calculator E H Parrish demonstrated the color sorter The tabulating department handles payroll invoices stockroom inventories and equipment shipments The tour included a stop at the coffee room and continued on page two.

Don Elms Recital Highlights Lee College Program
Bass-baritone Don Elms gave a Monday May 9 recital in the Lee College auditorium with pianist Marilyn Gilbert. He sang old Italian masters operatic arias and contemporary works. Elms plans a music career and is student director of the a cappella choir and member of the mixed choir.

Commencement Plans Announced for Lee College 1955
Lee College outlines 1955 commencement and baccalaureate events in the college auditorium. Val Jean McCoy of Shell Oil will deliver the commencement address on June 3 at 8 p.m. Rev. John D. Craig of Central Presbyterian Church will speak at baccalaureate on May 29 at 8 p.m. The program includes honors by Dean Walter Rundell, diplomas from President George Gentry, and musical selections by the mixed choir under Jeannine Hager. A list of graduates is named.

Gun Fighter is SC Film Club’s final campus screening
The SC Film Club will present Gun Fighter starring Greg ory Peck as the year’s last film. Showings are 1:30 and 7:00 p m on Wednesday May Wy and 1:30 on Thursday May 12. Tommy Kimball, club president, says finances are nearly balanced but the club is in debt and hopes this screening will restore solvency.

Garden Club Members Tour Lee Campus
May 4 visitors from the Dirt Gardeners Horticulture Club toured Lee College grounds led by landscape expert Mrs. Fred Hederhorst. She described native plants, showed drawings, and noted a long range plan with growing variety of flowers and shrubs. Members saw 115 native plant varieties and finished with lunch in the student lounge.

Hillbilly Singer Walter Jolley to Appear on LC Calling
On May 15 Walter Jolley LC student and hillbilly singer will perform with his instrumental group on the Lee College radio program LC Calling over KREL at 5 p m Sunday. Jolley is considering offers from leading record companies. On May 22 Frank Baird program director leads a discussion on the fall new registration program.

Val Jean McCoy, commencement speaker, is a senior executive with Gulf Mid-Continent Division of Shell Oil Co. He joined Shell in 1944 after leading Champion Paper and Fibre Co. as training supervisor, and earlier taught economics at the University of Houston. He chairs the Citizens Traffic Safety Commission in Houston and serves on boards for the Southwestern Diabetic Foundation and the Texas Public Relations Association. He holds a BA and MA in economics from the University of Southern California.
