All School Fall Term Party Attracted About 200 Students
An estimated 200 students attended the first all school party of the year held Sept 12 in the gym. Instructor Robert L Williamson headed the party committee and noted punch consumption. Classes were shortened to allow attendance and Roy Fulkerson emceed the floor show. Freshman Julie Bonner performed accordion numbers including Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White My Hero and I Get So Lonely.

First Lady of Lee Nominations Open by Ballot
Lee College students are invited to nominate the "First Lady of Lee" by ballot. Freshman or sophomore candidates may be named, with signatures required, ballots due Thursday Sept 24. Seven finalists announced Sept 27. winner chosen by secret ballot Oct 7, the yearbook photos day. Voting rewards include extra electoral votes with yearbook orders.

Counselors Named For Fall Semester At Lee College

Enrolment Increases at Lee College
Dean Walter Rundell reports a 24 percent rise in semester hour enrollment at Lee College with 832 students this term, 795 last fall. He estimates totals will reach 850 after late registration as 8535 semester hours are currently logged, up from 6887 last year, indicating more full time students and faster growth in academics than vocational programs.

Lee College Enlarges Teaching Staff for Fall Term
Lee College begins fall term with an expanded faculty of full time and part time teachers. Bertram Brehm joins natural sciences as a new course expands the department. He earned a B S from Western Reserve University and studies for a Ph D at the University of Texas. Milton L. Johnson, new chemistry staff member, started during the second summer term with a B S and MS from East Texas State College in 1949 and six years teaching at Penola Junior College where he led the science department. Joe Drake Gilliland becomes English instructor after three years teaching in a Japanese university and earlier teaching English from 1950 to 1953.
