Lee College expands freshman English offerings with two new courses English 302H and 303H starting summer session. English 302H focuses on English usage and expository writing for students with four high school English units and top verbal scores. English 303H requires 302H and emphasizes reading, critical reviews, and research papers.
Dean Walter Rundell announces the LC Community Loan Fund to help students with college expenses and no guaranteed aid. Applications are due April 1. The fund assists in obtaining other loans and scholarships and helps students find employment while pursuing graduation requirements.
Six LC floats will enter the Shrine Parade at 2 30 p m Saturday March 26 expected to be the largest Baytown parade ever with about 15000 spectators. Floats feature TSEA The Challenge of Tomorrow Curtain Club South Pacific Carousel We Build and Easter plus the Rodeo Club on horseback.
The Lantern argues the administration should review the eight year old rule banning cards and dominoes on campus. It notes gambling concerns and class skipping, but says adults at Lee deserve consideration and suggests enforcing penalties for gambling or skipping rather than a blanket ban.
A new bulletin board has been placed in the Liberal Arts building to give clubs more room for announcements and bulletins. The printing class is creating cardboard name plates for each club, and the boards will be divided with equal spaces for all organizations.
A dated calendar lists school terms and campus events from March to May including exams, holidays, performances, dances, and college-related activities. Highlights include Easter holidays April 8 11 and a final exam period May 20 25 along with special days such as Lee College Day May 29 and Confederate Ball May 14.
The Student Council meets to plan the state convention at Del Mar College in Corpus Christi. Lee’s group of 11 will travel March 31 to April 2 with public relations director Sue Jones. Hootenanny has two of five groups secured for April 7 at Sand Mountain in Houston. The Sixpence will not play Confederate Ball. KC Hall has been rented for the dance.
