Nancy Chandler Named 1963 64 Robert E Lee Band Sweetheart
Nancy Chandler elected sweetheart of the Robert E Lee Band for 1963 64. She plays coronet and serves as band treasurer and Lee Relay Queen contestant. She belongs to Antler Club future teachers club and acts as secretary to that group.

Mrs Mae Nelson Returns To Lee Biology Teacher
Mrs Mae Nelson, longtime biology teacher, returns to Lee after retiring last year. She had been abroad for the American Red Cross Centennial in Switzerland, earning the trip for 33 years of service since 1929. Nelson begins her thirtieth year of teaching, twentieth at Lee, and offers to share slides from her European journey.

JCL to Install Bray and Smith as Leaders
Bray Travis and Smith Mike will be formally installed as Executive Consul and Pro Consul of the Junior Classical League this month per sponsor Sherman Childress. Other officers include Leora Weimar secretary of interior Marilynne Capps recording secretary Beverly McCall corresponding secretary and Terry Brinkman treasurer. The JCL is governed much like early Rome with the Executive Consul presiding over meetings appointing committees and handling correspondence while the Pro Consul plans programs and oversees committees and officers.

REL Bands Earn First Division Honors at Inter-scholastic Meet
Robert E. Lee Junior-Senior and Sophomore Bands won first division ratings at the I S L Marching contest in Brazosport on November 16. The Junior-Senior Band in class 4A was led by Jenefred Hederhorst and Diana Alford. the Sophomore Band in class 3A also earned first division under its drum major. Several twirlers received first division ratings for solo performances, while many ensembles and other performers received second division ratings. The school has split the Junior-Senior Band into two groups for the concert season, with Charles Forque directing the symphonic band in the auditorium and Dan Johnston directing the concert band in the band room.
