Lee College Fall Concert by Choirs at Rundell Auditorium

The Lee College Concert Choir and Madrigal Singers directed by Lyon Lamkin perform a fall concert this Sunday in Rundell Auditorium at 2 30 PM. The LC Choir presents works by Hanson Mendelssohn McCray Copeland Persichetti Casale Zaumeyer while the Madrigal Singers perform 17th century and two contemporary arrangements. Admission is free and the public is invited.

Action on computer use fee tabled until March

LC students may face a $10 computer use fee starting fall 1992 to cover lab operating costs. Dean Steve Evans said the Board of Regents will review the administration proposal in March for next fall. Student Congress Opposes Fall Computer Use Fee

Student Congress opposes a new computer use fee for next fall, citing a 20 percent rise in tuition and fees. President Mercedes Renteria stated the opposition, and a protest letter was sent to Dr. Vivian Blevins and college leaders. Regents hike taxes to cover Lee College deficit

Lee College Board of Regents voted 4.6 percent tax increase at the October 14 meeting to raise property taxes from 17.168 to 17.96 cents per $100 valuation, funding a $392,000 shortfall and the 1991 92 budget of 19,485,593. Dr Blevins urged caution on tax abatement amid industry impact and community input. The board also named Donnetta Heintschmidt Suchon as Academic Dean starting January 1992 and dedicated several campus buildings: Haddle Music Building, Benny Moskowitz Natatorium, McNulty Haddick Complex, Melva Johnson Theatre, and Erma Wood Carlson Learning Resource Center with wings honoring Vivian Bowling Blevins and Margie Hartrick.

Lee College hosts Welch style eisteddfod by English faculty

LC English instructors lead an informal eisteddfod style gathering in Tucker Hall on Wednesday November 6. Noah Smith says a list of presenters and works will develop in late October with readings of original and favorite poems. Vern Lehmberg notes the event aims to become an annual campus tradition and invites all faculty staff and administration to join.

Photo IDs could debut this summer at campus Security

Dean Dennis Topper says photo identification cards are likely to be implemented this summer to boost security and help distinguish students from outsiders. Cards would feature a bar code for library use and checkout of materials for four long terms and four summer terms.

Lee College Haunted House set for two nights in gym

The 2nd Annual Lee College Haunted House opens Oct 25 from 8 p.m. to midnight and Oct 26 from 6 to 11 p.m. in the LC gym. Over 20 local businesses funded equipment while LC students provide labor. Proceeds, likely 800 to 1000 dollars, go to a local charity or scholarship. A free midnight showing of Rocky Horror Picture Show follows with security by Baytown police.

Spring 1992 class registration and schedules announced

Class schedules for the 1992 spring semester are expected the week of November 5. Phone registration for retiring students starts November 25 and continues to January 2. Unpaid courses registered by phone will be purged January 6. Early registration begins December 24, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Regular registration runs January 8-9, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and January 11, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. For details contact the Gertrude Teter Counseling Center or call extension 384.
