The Lee College Board of Regents named an advisory committee from Baytown business, LC faculty, staff and student representatives. Regents Coburn, Moore-Fontenot and Huggins will lead the search. first meeting is Nov. 18 from 1 to 5 pm, with a later session at 7 pm.
The Student Congress plans two local charity drives to aid underprivileged children. Volunteers are needed for Goodfellows toy purchases via local papers and United Way registrations, December toy bagging at Houston Light and Power, and distribution at HS&P plus pillowcase donations. A.C.E. to aid Bay Area Rehabilitation Center.
Non-Traditional Student Services sponsors a social mixer on Thursday November 21 from 6 to 7 pm in the Edythe Old Studio of the library. The event supports Psychology 1100 students and invites LC campus and community members to share experiences and provide input for future orientations.
Interim President J B Whiteley plans to keepLee College moving along its long range plan without major campus changes He may add a few enhanced programs but gave no specifics Whiteley praises LC quality and stresses education while noting funding pressures and higher student costs He will remain interim for six months or until a new president is chosen while enjoying golf and time with seven grandchildren.
The Lee College Foundation hosts its 8th annual gala on December 7 at Goose Creek Country Club to raise funds for student scholarships. Tickets are 75 dollars with 50 dollars to the scholarship fund and 25 dollars for gala expenses. Reservations close November 29.
The Press Club joined with the Baytown Jaycees to sponsor a Thanksgiving Food Drive during November 18 22. People can drop off non perishable foods in the Journalism room or in Thanksgiving boxes across campus including Rundell Hall Moser Hall Social Sciences Building Tech Voc Building and 711 W Texas. Donors can make checks to Baytown Jaycees Food Drive.
