LC library to install new security system

The Learning Resource Center will install a 3M Security System by January 1 1994 to deter unreturned materials. It uses tattle tape, desensitizing units, and gates with self checkouts to speed service while preserving security. Kenneth Roach notes the plan keeps holdings available and frees librarians for student assistance.

Fall Fiesta moved indoors due to rain at Lee College

Fiesta activities relocated to the gameroom on Oct 13 with clubs offering booths for fundraisers. Drama Club popcorn and temporary tattoos drew interest while food and live entertainment were highlighted. S.A.V.E. distributed purple ribbons for domestic violence awareness as students praised the event but suggested longer hours and possibly multi day runs.

Religion in Southern Politics debated by Rice professor

Rice University professor John Boles led a Thursday symposium on Religion in Southern Politics. He traced religion’s evolving role from the antebellum era through Civil Rights and Vietnam, noting shifts between church influence and political engagement and predicting continued swings in the South.

Lee College symposium explores southern politics 1952 1992

The Lee College Symposium titled Southern Politics In Transition 1952 1992 will be held Saturday October 23 at 7 45 a.m. in the John B Tucker Lecture Hall. Prominent educators from Texas Georgia Alabama Louisiana and Washington D C will discuss Politics and Society in the South and The South's New Politics. The program features Dr Earl Black and Dr Merle Black of Rice and Emory universities, a mid morning roundtable led by Ralph Murphrine, and speakers including John H Buchanan Jr Billie Carr Hank Grover Irma Grover and Richard Murray. Afternoon sessions include LC Dean Tom Sanders and Bill Boone with Glenn Koepp and J Murray. Registration is 3 with lunch optional for 5.
