Drainage ditch plan sparks debate at LC campus

The Rundell Hall ditch on Gulf Street faces opposition as the Board of Regents backs a Flood Control District plan to cover it with pipes and fill. Fall four hour Environmental Science course added at Lee College

Lee College adds a four hour Environmental Science course for the fall term designed by Dr. Verne Lehmberg to meet industry and student needs. The Biology 418 course covers air water soil pollution ecology and conservation and may count toward the eight hour science requirement.

Fall editors named for 1978 79 publications

Carla Cloudt Melanie Masterson and Gale Wylie named editors for the 1978 79 school year. Cloudt will edit Reflections and Masterson and Wylie will co edit the Lantern. Editors aim to involve students more and welcome letters to the editor with a suggestion box in WR 120.

Summer registration set for students at major universities

Education must go on regardless of season and summer sessions offer a chance to tackle harder subjects and transfer credits. Pre-registration ran April 17 to 21 with registration sheets in the records office and fees due then. First term registration is May 30 from 10 am to 7 pm and second term on July 11 from 10 am to 7 pm. Start now to finish difficult courses and earn an A in government.

Baytown Lee College selects Laurinda Leazer Miss Baytown

Laurinda Leazer, 18, daughter of Mr and Mrs H D Leazer of Baytown, won the Miss Baytown Lee College pageant and will represent Baytown in Miss Texas in Fort Worth this July. She plans to use a Southwest Texas State University scholarship to study fine arts and pursue commercial art. Finalists included Lisa McKinley Linda Schubert Penny Weaver with Connie Barfield receiving a judges award.

Lee College Jazz Ensemble Ends Spring Tour In New Orleans

The LC Jazz Ensemble and the LC Singers toured April 26 to 29, performing at nine stops and climaxing with a concert at Jackson Square in New Orleans. Over 11,000 people attended, with visits to the National Museum of Jazz History and concerts at Lamar Tech and Tulane University. Conductor Dave Corder praised the group for their work and recruitment impact.
