Six vie for three Lee College Board of Regents seats
Six candidates Robert Peterson James Carrell John Adams Laura Woods Robert Brooks and Bruce Causey Jr enter the April 1 election for three Lee College Board seats. Peterson a board chair and U S Steel Texas Works engineer cites stability and program improvements. Carrell a Pontiac dealer says LC is in good shape and stresses education quality. Adams a Shell Chemical pipeline coordinator was unavailable for comment. Woods a Houston city analyst hails LC as a community asset and future service. Brooks, veteran board member and priest, promises experienced, efficient governance. Causey Jr, Baytown travel agency owner, also unavailable for comment.

Houston broadcaster Dave Ward of Channel 13 News will headline the Journalism Workshop for high school students hosted by LC on April 13. The day features live newswriting contests, career talks by Channel 2’s Bill Worrell, KBUK’s Richard Dobbins, Baytown Sun’s Jim Finley, and others, with a luncheon where Ward will close and contest winners announced.

Campus Burglaries Reported Across LC Campus
A string of thefts has hit the LC campus over the past weeks. Purses were taken from unlocked offices in Bonner Hall and the Tech-Voc building, and a car parked near the Fine Arts building was burglarized. No arrests were reported by Baytown police at press time. Pasadena police announced an arrest for using a stolen credit card from the LC campus.

Three LC coeds compete among nineteen contestants for Miss Baytown title with a 700 scholarship and Fort Worth trip. Contest April 15 at Sterling High School auditorium with talent segments and 50 50 scoring. Winners receive crowns trophies roses sashes and scholarships. runners-up also earn scholarships.
