Crosby Area May Join San Jacinto Service Area Tug War

Lee College faces a clash with San Jacinto College over Crosby being added to the San Jacinto service area. If approved, LC could lose Crosby recruitment and growth potential, affecting surrounding LC districts and future expansion plans. Crosby students currently number 314, with 165 LC enrollees.

Study skills class replaces Psych 1100 at Lee College

Beginning Fall 1990 all incoming freshmen with under 20 hours must take a one hour study skills course replacing Psychology 1100 as the freshman orientation course. The course, aimed to reduce paperwork and attendance issues, will cover library use, financial aid and degree planning. Some faculty oppose the plan, arguing it may unnecessaryly burden students and that no waivers or testing exist to gauge need.

Students balk at plan to move LC library to gameroom

Daren Hearnsberger and Vivian Blevins report a tentative committee decision to relocate the Lee College library to the Moser Hall gameroom amid student protests. Over 200 sign a petition opposing the move while alternatives like 711 W Texas Ave and Sterling Library are dismissed as impractical.

Political pollster to speak at Lee College Wednesday

Testing Drops TDC Enrollment at Huntsville Facility

Enrollment in Lee College courses at the Texas Department of Corrections Huntsville facility fell 29.8 percent from Spring 1989 to Spring 1990 after mandatory MAPPS testing. Contact hours dropped 33 percent. Only about 1 percent of inmates pass the test, with those failing placed in Wyndham ISD remediation.
