Candidates discuss campus concerns in LC Board of Regents forum
May 2 elections for the Board of Regents were highlighted at a Meet the Candidates forum sponsored by Student Congress. Incumbents Wayne Gray and Oswall Harman joined Mercedes Renteria Cindy McNeill and Roger Schirmbeck, with moderator Susan Cummings guiding questions from the SC office and two minute responses. Candidates stressed building upkeep, faculty salaries, student access, security, diversity and minority outreach as they addressed tuition costs budget pressures and LC’s role in preparing students for four year institutions and the job market.

Regents choose Dr. Jackson Sasser of Alabama to lead Lee College beginning July 1, replacing interim president J. B. Whiteley. Sasser, 42, holds advanced degrees from the University of Alabama and Jacksonville State University, and brings experience from Calhoun Community College and Germanna Community College.

Graduation Ceremonies Set For May at Lee College
Roland Galvan of KPRC TV Channel 2 News will speak at the 1992 Lee College Commencement on May 8 at 7 p.m. in the gym. Nursing graduates graduate May 8 with other programs following May 9. A hall of fame ceremony, major student awards, and a jazz prelude accompany the events. Huntsville Center graduations occur May 11 at 7 p.m. at the Ellis II Unit.
