Drunken man dies in jail as suit over neglect filed
A man accused of drunkenness died in his jail cell after a late night arrest. The following morning the case was called and he was found dead. Allegations claim lack of proper jail attention led to a civil suit. Beaufort dated Oct 19. Sheriff Robt E Jenkins died suddenly this morning of heart failure after months of delicate health. Funeral services will be at St Helena Episcopal Church tomorrow at 11.

In Nacogdoches Texas on October 17 Jim Buchanan a colored man and the Hicks family murderer was tried and pleaded guilty. The judge imposed death and Buchanan waived the customary delay then was executed by hanging within hours before a large crowd as militia stood by.

New York October 17 William Hooper Young was indicted by the grand jury for murder in the first degree for the killing of Mrs Pulitzer nine months ago. The indictment charges Young with deliberate homicide and sets the stage for trial proceedings in the case.

Fire Devours Forty Horses in City Livery Stable
