A white Gus Sanders and a colored Thomas Wright clashed over fishing at Anderson pond after Wright trespassed. Sanders warned him not to fish there, Wright boasted of a breech loader, and Wright was wounded by Sanders in a confrontation. Community notes the incident as regrettable in a peaceful town. He asserts Filipinos will fight to the end, confident world recognition will come and that Mexican relief and allied forces may shift momentum. He claims unity fortifies their cause despite observed inactivity. Fire at St Mary’s College Belmont destroys central portion with about 200000 loss. Belmont Catholics own the campus.
