Advertises one of the best stocks in Upper Carolina with up to date goods and low prices. Claims newest Silks, seersuckers, and linens at eight ten cents. Promises fast turnover as crowd gathers for quick cash buys and marked down inventory.
A local shop touts tremendous business and warns no rival can match its line of ladies, misses, and children’s footwear and garments. New sandals with one to three straps arrive in muslin and pamseok trims, lace, and embroidery, offered at remarkably cheap prices from 25 cents to 1 dollar 50, with stock including misses and children’s items.
We present a fresh batch of sample shirts and pants priced at 60, 35, 40, 50 and 60 cents on the dollar. Shirts originally worth from 50 cents to 100 dollars are now offered at these low prices, a convenient summer option with light breezy options.
Two stock items sold swiftly and a third is moving quickly as Evans crafts charms for town and country. Millinery prices are lower this season with a pretty banded sailor hat offered at twenty cents.
At midnight Rev R P Pell president of Presbyterian College for Women found a four to five week old girl on the front steps. He reported to police and arranged for the Door of Hope to care for the infant. The child, healthy and neatly dressed, shows no signs of neglect beyond poverty and is under good care.
Spartanburg May 15 The latest feature in the Baby in the Woods case occurred at John R Bain’s residence when Gus Shaw married Sue Clark in a ceremony conducted by Rev. Lewis M. Roper. Shaw remains jailed on $500 bond. Clark posted $200 and was released. They face charges of cruelty in neglect of a deserted infant found with Bain.
Lisbon Indiana man Chas C Ellis helped repair a telegraph line in waist high icy water. He suffered illness blamed on a flood cold that doctors deemed consumption. After taking Dr King's New Discovery he recovered fully in six bottles. Crawford Bros and Mackey Co advertise the cure at 50c and $1.00. The piece ends with a quip about a woman and arms.
Distressing kidney and bladder disease relieved in six hours by a new great remedy called American Kin NKY Curry. The ad claims prompt relief from pain in bladder kidneys and back and immediate relief of water retention. Sold by J F Mackey & Co Druggist Lancaster Ohio.
The schedule lists new omissions and charter fees effective May 1, including 2.50 for recording return and another 2.50 when return is made. Capital stock fees vary from one mill per dollar up to four quarters per dollar with initial 550 on first 1,000,000, plus applicable adjustments. Fees must be paid when papers are filed and private checks are not accepted unless certified. This lowers charges for small capital and raises them for larger charters.
W H Hubbard, longtime U S deputy marshal and Bennettsville resident, was sentenced for illicit liquor selling. A sealed sentence set a $500 fine or eight months on the chain gang, with prior similar offense leading to $400 fine or six months. Friends expect to raise $900 to cover fines. FP. C.

In Birmingham on Third Avenue and Twenty Second Street last night Claude Raymond was killed when a lumber pile collapsed, crushing him and breaking every bone in his body. The incident occurred during play on the pile, leaving details scarce about witnesses or recovery.

Greenville resident Jim Mauldin, 23, stands 34 inches tall and weighs 50 pounds, a living curiosity. Brother of carpente r W L Mauldin, Jim lives at 316 Rutherford Street and scarcely leaves home, doing light chores and helping with stove wood. He is pale but generally healthy, and his mother Mrs George Mauldin of Anderson county praises his nursing and gentle care for a baby.
A promotional note urges readers to purchase Cascarets Candy Cathartic tonight. It touts the product as an ideal laxative with genuine stamped C. C. C. tablets and warns against bulk sales, available at all druggists.
An American traveler recalls the Italian proverb See Naples and die and the ordeal of a close call amid stench in Naples. The note also references a want ad for cash for dogwood and persimmon logs from Southern Hard Wood Company and a call to settle debts for recording deeds, signed by W L Porter CCC LC.
