The Ganson Cash Store invites shoppers to come see a large stock described as one of the best in Upper Carolina with new and up to date merchandise. The store claims to weed out old stock and offer latest, best goods to attract cash buyers.
Fresh arrivals marketing note describes satin stripe lawns in a case offered at five cents, with seersuckers in stripes and plain fast colors also at five cents. Baptistes and others are listed at eight to ten cents, emphasizing fine values and rapid selling.
Pine Shoes advertises a vast range of slippers sandals and oxfords for ladies misses and children. It claims unbeatable prices and says styles are desirable with options of one two and three straps.
The store adds fine summer undergarments including Misses and children's sizes. Made from muslin with embroidery and neat Cadin style cuts for good fit. Prices range from 25 to 150 cents.
A local retailer advertises men's shirts and shirt waists as ideal for hot weather. New stock of sample shirts and pants arrives with prices at 50, 35, 40, 50, and 60 cents, for shirt goods normally valued from 59 cents to 100 dollars.
Our Miss Evans' fine work has charmed town and country as millinery prices drop. Two stock items are sold out and the third moves slowly while a banded sailor hat is offered at 20 cents.
During McKinley’s visit to Los Angeles on May 10 the presidential party caused excitement as Secretary Wilson and Charles A Moore reported missing pocketbooks. A thief followed the party and was arrested with the purses and other stolen items. Separately a lightning fire destroyed J M McFadden’s ginhouse near Smith’s Turnout with ten bales of cotton and fertilizer.
A boiler explosion at McDuffie and Wells saw mill near Prie South Carolina injured and killed several workers. White man AL Branson died, Thomas Scott the negro victim was found 100 yards away with bones broken. Others burned or injured, damage estimated at 5000 dollars. Doctors treated victims. two other boilers exploded.
An Orangeburg case reports Willie Wilson a Black man charged with murder for driving into and throwing Mr Hydrick from a wagon on Ball Swamp road last September. A lynching attempt followed arrest, but a judge and jury confined to facts rejected mob action, with Wilson protected by guards and ending in a brief jury deliberation.

He claims doctors in Oakland and Sioux City declared consumption but credits Dr King’s New Discovery with a full cure after six bottles. Crawford Bros and J F Mackey & Co advertise the medicine with prices 50c and 1.00.
Distressing kidney and bladder issues relieved in six hours by a New American remedy sold by JF Mackey & Co. Druggist Lancaster. Claims rapid relief and cure with immediate effect on excessive urination and bladder discomfort.
Special to The State reports Frank Baumgardner, a young white man, drowned while seiving with two friends below Clifton mill dam No 3 in the Pacolet river. He fell from a rock, could not swim, and drowned before aid arrived. His body was recovered at 1 p m. today.
Advertising blurb touts Bucklen’s Arnica Salve as a cure for itching piles and other injuries or eruptions. Claims thousands cured and guarantees results. Price 25 cents per box and available from Crawford Bros and J F Mackey & Co.
Person urges debtors to call and settle accounts for recording deeds and other papers. WLS Porter CCC LC appeals for payment, stating the money is needed urgently while in town.
