A telegram from the Turko-Persian frontier reports a brutal clash between the Mertins and Shinans tribes of Kurds. It says about a thousand corpses were counted on the field after the battle, which followed a mutual vow to destroy one another.
Milwaukee Dispatch reports Tillman in an interview states that Bryan may not declare the nominee but will influence the convention. He expects Bryan to control a third of the delegates if not a majority, enabling him to say who shall not be nominated.
