Crowds throng the shop daily as shoppers seek bargains. Sales staff stay busy meeting many customers waiting for service. Prices are advertised as paralyzing competition and cash buyers find value by shopping here.
A Lancaster store advertises drastic reductions to clear shelves in clothing and footwear. LL Douglass and Craddock Terry & Co shoes are offered at deep cuts while ladies misses and children’s slippers are priced to move. Millinery volumes claimed as the largest yet.
Special to The State Kingstree June 15. Hamilton McGill a 22 year old laborer was hanged at noon in the Williamsburg jail yard after admitting the rape of a nine year old girl on May 10. Sheriff J D Daniel and C E Wheeler oversaw the execution. The case drew debate over local justice but the court affirmed the law with McGill convicted of carnally knowing and abusing a child under ten.
Special to the State reports Darlington jury convicts Jule Gibson of killing his brother and sentences him to be hanged on June 27. Alonzo Darrell convicted of manslaughter for killing Manny Patterson receives ten years hard labor. Earlier hopes for a full sentence faded.
In a Charleston area dispute, Rev W A Betts argues the dispensary profits corrupt moral education and warns against liquor funding schools. The article covers a June 16 Charleston campaign meeting with 27 speakers for governor candidates, noting Hoyt strong with prohibitionists and Evans promoting railroad reform.
Miss Maggie Rosborough sacrificed herself to save a child on the track at Lewis Turnout. She shoved the child off the rails but was struck by the engine flagstaff and killed. The child survived with a fractured skull in what witnesses call a tragic accident.

Washington June 15. Gen. Macabulos with eight officers and 124 rifles surrendered to Col. Liscom of the Ninth Infantry at Tarlac. This capture marks the retirement of the insurgent leadership in Tarlac and Pangasinan region, reported by Gen. MacArthur in Manila.
