Special to The Stater Bennettaville Aug 9 Jim Harris executed for the murder of Capt Carter, a chain gang guard, last winter. Sheriff Green and deputies oversaw the sentence, Jim spoke with the murdered man’s sons, prayed with a local preacher, and was executed by rope while addressing laborers and awaiting legal counsel. The body was left hanging briefly before removal. other items note Jack Winters confessing to recovering bullion from a bank heist.
