Victory Loan Drive 5 Interdive Meeting In Kemmerer

A Monday Victory Loan Drive meeting at Kemmerer Lyceum hall drew a packed crowd led by the 100 Percent American Club and Chamber of Commerce. Speakers praised Wyoming and Lincoln County contributions, urged full subscriptions, and announced a house to house canvass led by women. About $15,000 in subscriptions were secured at the gathering.

Cole Oil Co. brings in well in Texas field

J F Fitzpatrick sent a telegram announcing the Cole Oil Co has opened a good well at Wichita Falls. Production details are unavailable, but the well shows 100 feet of casing. The Lincoln Idaho Oil company board met Saturday approving continued activity at Waterfall field with a new well planned for June in the Cretaceous area. Thomas Clinton was re elected president and GM. Chas H McGowan secretary treasurer. A L Brayer vice president. An advisory board and an eastern Wyoming operator deal for a 40 acre lease and 2500 feet drill were announced to test the lower sands.

Governor Carey Appeals 148th Field Artillery Return Home

Governor Robert D. Carey urged Secretary Newton D Baker to reverse an order sending the 148th Field Artillery to Germany for indefinite police duty. He noted Wyoming volunteers joined to fight Germans, not to stay overseas long, and stressed the unit’s Mexican border service and early deployment to France.

Marshall Reynolds In Camp Merritt

Judge Reynolds received a telegram from his son Marshall Reynolds stating he is in Camp Merritt New Jersey with no way to know when he will be dispatched westward or to which demobilization camp. It is likely Captain Reynolda will be sent from the enlistment point in San Francisco though records credit him to Wyoming. Citizens Primary Meeting Deliberations in Kemmerer
