Assessors to Begin Livestock Valuation Boosts County Tax Base

County Assessor George Tanner expects deputies to start this week as livestock valuations rise. Cattle values jump to 20 dollars for bulls and 2 dollars for calves, sheep double, horses up to 50 per head for stallions, hogs up 2, goats up 1. The state assessors met in Cheyenne to decide to count livestock, aiming for fairer limits as counts vary by herd size.

Installing Sixth Rig Advances in Fossil Field

A large steel derrick and drifting outfit were unloaded for the Idaho Wyoming Oil Company in the Fossil field. The first standard rig arrived last week and is expected to operate on Section 22, marking a major addition to the field’s development.

Apartment plan to ease Kemmerer housing shortage

Abner Davis of the Pyramid Syndicate announces the Wyoming Trust Company plans to erect a large twenty three room apartment house in Kemmerer on the former C Watt Brandon property. Offices will be in the Downey building beside the Pyramid Syndicate. The project aims to attract families by improving housing and school access, with a rush to meet current demand.

Resumption of Large Scale Coal Mining Near Cumberland

Last week word spread that Cumberland will resume mining on a much larger scale. A new geearth is to be erected in the jo mine to drain water from lower entries. For years lower passages have been flooded after squeezes. Demand for coal now requires opening these veins. From 50 to 130 more men may be employed.

Shipping capacity required for a soldier and gear

Four tons of shipping capacity are required to transport a soldier, and one more ton is necessary for his equipment. In addition, it takes 50 pounds of ship capacity a day to keep him supplied with food, clothing and ammunition.

Rigs Arrive as Fossil Field Expands and New Leases Issued

Oil crews rush into Fossil as multiple rigs from Idaho Wyoming Keystone National and Eldorado move into sections 14 22 11 27 and 23 while leases secure ground around section 15 20 117. Field activity includes road improvements housing contracts and a bridge over the Rail road approach as workers prepare for rapid drilling and camps ahead of May 1.

Judge Arnold opens adjourned session in Kemmerer

In a special session Judge John R. Arnold arrived from Evanston with Miss Laura B. Smith and opened an adjourned Kemmerer court. Plea day saw several inmates seeking sentence reductions. Archie Perrie admitted stealing 55 from Sterling Hanson. both got varying sentences not exceeding two years. Joseph Terrill pled guilty to 23.50 theft. sentence ranges four to eight years. Rose Mohr and Rowx Robbing, recently married, faced bigamy. Rose 1 to 2 years, Rowx 18 months to 4 years. The day focused on arguments to dissolve an injunction against Mosars Ridgely and Tindan concerning the Cretaceous company.

A miscellaneous gathering was held at the home of Mrs Albert Heite on Wednesday evening in honor of Miss Tena wednow of Diamondville who will wed Dale Crane of Casper in February. Crane, prominent in commerce, directed the dry goods department at Mountain Trading Co in Diamondville and later managed Golden Rule in Casper.

Wes Davies Killed In Auto Splash-Up Near Kemmerer

Wes Davies 30 well known in Kemmerer and Evanston died Friday in a car accident described as an auto splash-up. He was master mechanic for Kemmerer Coal Co and had worked at Fontenelle and Salt Lake City. Mrs Davies is daughter of Dr W A Hooker of Kemmerer. Funeral delayed in Evanston to Thursday. Davies family and friends in Wyoming extend sympathy.
