Local residents organized the Green River Oil Shale Company with 2,560 acres south of Green River and a 250000 capitalization. Leaders include Fred Chapin J R McMinn David Boyce and B McGregor. A retort plan using Henderson type units aims to test and refine shale oil while exploring coal beds fossils and potential gold silver and platinum byproducts.
