Four escapes from the penitentiary are reported as Joseph Kiser slipped out during work with 200 prisoners in a quarry. He vanished at 10 o clock, leaving guards baffled. A large force scoured the area, but no trace of Kiser has been found, with the search spanning the quarry and surrounding territory.
The description lists a 31 year old man tall with chestnut hair and murky blue eyes. He has J K tattooed on his left forearm and several facial scars. Authorities warn of a cautious search of the district this afternoon and monitoring of outgoing trains and cars.
John Schultz aged 32 residing on Siege Street was killed instantly when run over by a Rock Island freight train near Bureau Junction in Bureau County while riding a freight to Kansas with J Simons and Henry Krone. He left a brother Charles and several relatives including uncles Joseph George John Houser and aunt Lizzie Bowers.

Oscar Wallien step son of Mrs Fred Carlson aged 68 died from a fall injury. funeral from Garison at 2 pm with burial at Oakwood cemetery. Inez Strombeck wife of Arthur Strombeck died at St Josephs Hospital.
Wheatland's annual Saturday meet drew a large crowd at Clow with two football games and several field events. Wheatland Colts beat Batter ies 3 to 1 in one game, Plainfield and Gates and Hiss, Colts Boughton and Yost. The Plainfield high school team defeated Old Wheatland 2 to 1. In field events Hartman won shot put 80 feet 10 inches, Heim placed second in high jump and hop, step and jump, Quantock second in pole vault, Stark first in running broad jump, and Quantock tied for first in 100 yard dash with 12 seconds.
A Rockdale saloon is said to have been robbed of 1600 dollars last night. A family statement says the son and others were robbed of cash. Local authorities could not verify specifics as police tried to confirm the incident.
Harry M. Kilpatrick of Elwood was elected secretary of the Illinois State Undertakers Association at its annual convention in Bloomington. P W Coleman of Bloomington was named president, Marlo M Goodale of Chicago first vice president, J J Burkhart of Sandwich second vice president, and E B Knox of Moline treasurer. Moline will host the next gathering. A cadaver on the scene was the only dead feature of the convention as Prof Hohenischuh conducted embalming demonstrations attended by the class and association members.

Seven year old Steve Bauchek, resident of 303 State Street, was ground to death beneath a C L E switch engine near Clay Street. He was playing near the tracks when a freight car rolled away and mangled him. Fireman N Roach and Engineer T Searth did not know a child was struck until notified by a section crew.
