New St John's Lutheran Church Dedicated in Joliet
The new St. John’s First English Evangelical Lutheran church at Herkimer and Van Buren streets in Joliet was dedicated with Rev. D F Thomas of Rogers Park delivering the sermon. The edifice cost over 31000, seats about 1000, organ vows not yet installed, and $2100 raised at morning service plus hundreds more during the dedication. The ceremony featured a Lexington quartet and strong congregation participation.

Public hearing set for Hunter Avenue sewer project
At the board of local improvements meeting the first resolution and a profile were adopted. A public hearing on a new sewer and watermain system for Hunter Avenue between Morgan and McDonough streets was scheduled for June 15 with estimated cost 2741.79 dollars. Bids for a Franklin and Ohio streets water main were opened and awarded to William Moran at 3378.10 dollars.

Unknown Man Hangs Self in Wilmington Boxcar
A man about fifty, with no identifying marks, hanged himself in a Chicago and Alton boxcar near the Wilmington freight depot. He used two handkerchiefs as a rope and was found by Edmund M. Allen and a companion, who reported the grisly discovery. The body was buried in the potter's field after a coroner’s investigation and verdict. A hat from an Elgin dealer and a mutilated notebook with torn pages were found.
