Ernest Freeman of Chicago owner of United Electric announces a Morris franchise bid to Council asking for no action tonight. He plans a north south line from Yorkville to Dwight and an east west line from Seneca to Joliet, with potential reuse of a Yorkville Lisbon link and possible bridge decisions with the county. Freeman claims strong financing and speedier operation using water power routed from Marseilles, asserting he can outpace the McKinley syndicate.
Munroe, back from Washington, says Speaker Cannon is misrepresented as opposing the deep waterway.
