Seventeen Year Olds May Donate Blood Without Consent
Ohio law now allows seventeen-year-olds to donate blood without a parent written consent starting Sept. 23. Hexworth Blood Center reports 73,000 units collected last year with seven percent from high school drives. Harvest Festival at Sharon Woods Returns with Family Fun
Sharon Woods Village hosts the Annual Harvest Festival on Sunday October 2 from noon to 5 p.m. The event features apple pie contest prizes, two stages of live music by Homestyle and Simple Gifts, square dancing, crafts demonstrations, a pumpkin contest, games, hayrides, apple bobbing, and a flea market. Admission is 2 for adults 1 for seniors and 0 for children while car entry requires a park sticker or 1 fee.

Marine Pvt Robert E Schubert son of Robert H Schubert of Cleves Ohio completed recruit training at Parris Island South Carolina after an eleven week cycle. He learned battlefield basics daily routines enlistment standards and marine traditions. He gained proficiency in first aid rifle marksmanship and close order drill while teamwork and self discipline were emphasized throughout the program.

United Drive kick-off for Dearborn County United Fund drive
