Harrison Nautilus Opens In Temporary Harrison Bowl Space
The Harrison Nautilus Fitness Club opened on Sept 10 in the former Harrison Bowl banquet room. Owners Dave and Cindy Metz plan a permanent Stone Drive site next summer with racquetball courts a dancerize room locker rooms showers whirlpools and a Nautilus room. They expect 100 charter members by weekend's end. The club operates 10 Nautilus machines with two more, offers 20 to 25 minute workouts up to three times weekly, seven days a week with early workouts on request and free babysitting.

Ruth Hammitt Retires After 30 Years Service
Ruth Hammitt, head cook at Crosby School for 14 years, retires after 30 years with Southwest Local School District. The 1982 83 year was her last. At a PTA meeting she received an Elgin anniversary clock and a lifetime pass for her family to Crosby’s ham and turkey supper, held the second Saturday in October, presented by Nan Guenther, PTA president, and Crosby principal Robert Athy.
