Welfare Reform and License Changes Face Conference Action
State House action centers on conference committee reports as 1986 session winds down. WBH 1085 would shift welfare administration to a state fund, with counties funding the current costs and the state absorbing personnel. HB 1400 aims to create a bi partisan five member commission to oversee license branches and move toward a state run system by 1988. HB 1255 proposes a statewide liability insurance pool for government entities, sparking debate over private insurers and tax dollar savings.
