City Council Discusses New Police Chief and Yard Sale Rules
Harrison City Council on January 21 updates the police chief selection process with seven candidates interviewed by a nine member citizen panel. Mayor Rolfes plans to interview top candidates and submit a selection next meeting. An ordinance would require the new chief to become a city resident within 12 months unless overridden by council. Budget talks include gravel packed well bids of 60 to 65 thousand dollars, 1000 gpm and a 40 foot depth increase, plus yard sale ordinances from Ennis with permits and time limits. Council addresses a potential conflict of interest with William Ennis as Law Director, water pretreatment staffing, satellite dish ordinance amendments, and yard sale regulations from Cleves and Amberly Village.
