Commissioner Donald C. Alexander urged filing early to speed processing of 1974 income tax returns and potential rebates. He warned refunds may take up to eight weeks for late filers, noting last year 62 percent of taxpayers received refunds averaging 367 dollars. He could not yet forecast the 1974 average refund.
Airman Jerome S. Unwin son of Mr and Mrs James W Unwin of Cleves Ohio reports from Lackland AFB Texas after six weeks of Air Training Command basic training. He studied the Air Force mission organization and customs and received special instruction in human relations. A coming event at Twin Lanterns features a buffet at 8:00 and music by The Combinations at 9:00 with tickets from sorority members or 367 9332.
Walter Kaiser aged 85 died in Cincinnati Ohio. Funeral services were conducted January 18 1975 at 2:00 P.M. at Lutz John C Brater Funeral Home Harrison Ohio. The obituary notes he had five great grandchildren and a grandson named J.
Dearborn County sheriff's department charged Ricky L. Long James D. Long Jr both of 118 Walnut St Harrison Ohio and Charles W Freeman of Cincinnati. Simpson s home was ransacked and a flashlight was taken deputies said.
The Citizens Advisory Committee will gather January 30 at 7 30 PM in William Henry Harrison High School. The meeting will cover local issues and community concerns.
The March of Dimes drive will run January 25 to 29 with mothers in the area collecting donations on those days.
Debbie Riegel and Jeff Biddle are highlighted as top senior students from Harrison. Debbie is in Honor Society and leads multiple school activities including the newspaper staff and Student Council president. Jeff Biddle serves in Honor Society, runs AV duties, presides over Student Council, captains the It's Academic team, and pursues medicine.
Local charity thanks community figures including Jennings Bryan Yeager Auxiliary 199 J B Yeager Post No 199 and Harrison Lions Club supporters Mr and Mrs Evan Snodgrass Mr and Mrs Wilbur Smith Mr and Mrs L William Kuntz Emmett Auto Electric and John B co for assistance.
The Jayceeettes conducted their election of officers on Tuesday in January.
The Harrison Fire Department held its annual banquet at the American Legion Home on Saturday January 18. Firemen Herb Benson and Gene Meyers received twenty five year pins. Robert Sweeney asst fire chief of Mack Ohio spoke, followed by Mayor Rolfes who thanked the firemen for their efforts.
The Wildcats look to rebound in league play after a 56 to SC loss to St Bernard on the Titan’s court. Dean Friday hosts Harrison on January 31 and Taylor on February 4 with the reserve game set for 6 30 p.m.
The mayor proclaims January 19 to 25 1975 as Jaycee Week in Harrison urging Jaycees and prospects to engage in self-improvement through community involvement. The resolution notes the Harrison Jaycees 10th anniversary and ties to Ohio and national Jaycees networks.
Registration for Adult Education was held on Wednesday with Ceramics set for Monday. Mail-in registration uses the blank in this paper. All eight weeks of instruction cost 10 dollars.
